A graduate of Bridgewater High School, Dr. Malik went on to become one of the youngest graduates from the University of Waterloo as a Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Malik has been practicing as an Optometrist in Nova Scotia for more than 30 years. She is the founding partner of South Shore Eye Clinic, having started the practice in 1983, in the beautiful rural town of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Dr. Malik lives in Bridgewater with her family, husband Dr. Yves Levesque (Optometrist) and their three children and is actively involved in a variety of community activities and organizations.
Dr. Micah Timmermans
Dr. Timmermans He studied biochemistry and public health at Calvin College, where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in 2017 before attending graduate school at the Michigan College of Optometry. During this time, he served as the chapter president for Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) which organized and raised funds for eye care mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and Dominica. His clinical training includes primary care, pediatric eye care, specialty contact lens fitting, and surgical co-management and was carried out at the University Eye Center at Michigan College of Optometry, the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan, and the Eye Institute of West Florida in Clearwater, Fl. Dr. Timmermans moved to Nova Scotia in 2021 with his wife Rachael, their 2 young daughters: Charlotte and Stella, and their loving golden retriever Milo. They enjoy traveling, hiking the trails and parks around the province, and spending time with their family at the beaches along the South Shore.
